In the aftermath of Katrina, my house took on 5' of water for weeks. My large paintings were sitting on the floor and were immersed in that rancid putrid waste. When I returned after the city had been pumped dry, I found most of my original unsold art destroyed by mold and contamination. The large pieces below mark destroyed were some of the victims, the composition forever changed by this horrific event. They were beyond any cleaning; psychologically or physically. I will do more eventually, and still take portrait commissions.
After years of experience with this medium, I have found that on some of these collages the resin would seperate from the background, especially on the granite table tops. I have honed my technique by applying wood behind the pieces for stablility and screws through the resin. If anyone has seen or experienced this problem, you can contact me about fixing or repairing at no charge, just cover shipping.
